Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT)

The Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT) opened to the public last October 5.

Designed by the british architect Amanda Levete and directed by Pedro Gadanho, former curator and architect at MoMA in New York, the inauguration was attended by thousands of visitors!

The MAAT exhibits contemporary art through temporary exhibitions and EDP's art collection. This has four rooms: Oval, Main Gallery, Project Room and Video Room.

For the opening evening were inaugurated three exceptional exhibitions: "The World of Charles and Ray Eames", "Pychon Park" and "A Forma da Forma”.

The night had a more musical and dynamic environment with concerts, Djs sets and performances that helped to make magic in the new museum space.

The whole place is amazing and unique. But one of the main differentiating factors is the fact that all its coverage has been thought of as an outdoor room where you can walk around the top of the building and enjoy the view over the river. The walls were inspired in pottery and the Portuguese sidewalk. All of that creates a special relationship with the city.

National and international exhibitions will go through the museum. On average, it is expected to present 18 exhibitions a year. With the contribution of artists, architects and contemporary thinkers, will be possible to transmit the great themes and current trends.

Let yourself go and be surprised by all this cultural environment and go to the discovery of MAAT building in the heart of Lisbon.
